Thunderer is the brand not the incorrect spelling in the thread title.
Picked up the Thunderer MT R408 tyres x 5.
Was recommended these by a friend that ownes a Bridgestone outlet.
Did some looking on line to only find minimal information, but all good information.
Anyways I fitted them and they look the part.
I know a 16" rim and tyres are the go in a 305, but these don't come in that size and the budget wasn't going to allow me to get them.
I went for the 285/70/17 on 17/8 rims with a neg13 offset.
They sit nice and to the edge of the guards.
No lift yet so they fill the guards nicely, will see how the end result with the 2" lift is in a couple of months.
No spacer is needed for the rear door, fits like the factory assembly.
Yet to drive on them, when going out the drive the left front mud flop was half ripped off.
Sorting this out now and will follow up later with a dive result on the black top, heading to Gembrook next Sunday and will report back.

Very nice look like they would be quiet, liking those side bitters to.
They'll protect the side walls, yep very nice. Didnt think you'd be ripping
mudflaps off with 285s ?
What road pressures are you running
04 ST 3lt auto, not enough Mods to keep me happy, but getting there
Just did a drive.
Very quiet up to 40km, from that to 60km is not much difference and maybe 5%.
70km to 80km they are possible 50% quieter than the Federals and still very quiet.
100km are possibly another 5% noisier than 80km.
They are a classic muddy with the stearing, feels very light and sloppy due to the minimal tread on the road
PSI is 35.
Question, without the lift, will it be safe to hit the tracks re the scrubbing.
If the front mud flaps are the only part the tyres hit and now removed could the tyres hit the flares with flex etc.
Me no,,,,,, I wouldnt go 4x4ing, if I did Id be only doing mild tracks.
couldnt think of anything worse than caving in the back of front guard.
If you hit the front hard with the wheels turned it could make a mess.
Its your Patrol so its your call really. thats not to say you cant go hit some bush land tracks
Your tyres will be a bit squishy till they settle a bit, 35psi should be about right
for a nice ride

Took the patrol out for a small play to Gembrook today.
Very happy with the tyres, they did everything a muddy should.
It was super slippery on the clay even for the guys with cooper and bridgstone MTs.
They cleaned the mud very well, gripped well, stayed on track very well and were able to claw out of clay ruts.
Gripped on the rocks and flexed nicely.
I gave them a good workout on the gravel, they didn't grip as I thought but neither did the Federals.
Not sure if it's just MTs in general on loose gravel.
Heading to big and little desert, border track with sand dunes in the mix.
Will report on this trip and tyre wear.
They look good bloke and nice stance with the -13..
If ya don't mind me asking what was the set back price being a 17"??
I'm also thinking I'll go one set and get a good mud tyre or aggressive AT again instead Of 2 sets..
