Why worry, you can buy the engines for a song now
I just sold mine with 136000 on the clock for $1000.

Yes, you're dreaming, but what do you care?!!
Lot can happen during that time and you can end up getting another fourby or swapping the engine for peanuts.
The motor has been serving you well by the sound of it.
Look after it and enjoy it. Don't think too far ahead when it comes to motor vehicles. They are what they are.

Some GQ 4.2s have 750k on them and the 4.5 is basically a bored out 4.2
you should have plenty of Kays left if serviced right

The guy must have been driving it like a nana.
It's a good to know 4.5 is basically 4.2 bored out. I thought they totally reinvented the wheel with the 4.5. Apparently not.
Does this mean these engine's are swappable?

Yep. At the end of the day it's something to get you around. I learnt the hard way on my last 4by. Wanted to be like everyone else. Now it's what "I" want/need.
I'm happy with what my gas blower does, even if it's the most unconventional Patrol out there.

The 4.5 is a totally different engine. Alloy head and totally different block. It uses a timing chain, the TD42 uses gears.
They are "swappable" (I've just done mine) inasmuch as the engine mounts are in the same place and they have the same transmission fitting (as does a ZD30).
Exhaust manifold is same bolt pattern as is viscous hub & fan.
No alternator, steering or A/C brackets fit. Coolant inlet/outlet are totally different.

I think he was referring to the TB42 not the TD42 :-)
