TD42 glow plug timer
Would anyone know why my glow plug timer takes so bloody long...?
First thing in the morning it can take more than 20 seconds for it to click and always has??
Did not think much of it until Matty pointed it out to me a few times over the weekend.
How long does yours take... Not talking about when the light goes out but when you hear the click and the system goes back to 12v.

Mine is run via the ECU and it takes that or longer... Jaycar sell a timer kit so you can set it yourself.

I didn't have any factory setup so I bought an OEX brand glow timer. I have it set for 6 secs with after pulses (1 sec on, 1 sec off) set to 10.
I use a Jaycar 100 amp relay to switch the power to the plugs.
It starts immediately. When it's hot, I just turn the key without waiting and the starter signal wire stops the glow process.
The after glow still works.

Yes same my light goes out in a about 3 seconds but more than 20 seconds for the click... Matty waited about 10 seconds and just started my car with no issues but the weather was very warm last weekend.
During the day while I am out and about it only needs 3 secs for the light to go out and never have issues.

You would have to wire it in. Its not a "plug and pray" type setup. But this is the unit that get most of the attention from ZD30 owners wanting to override the ECU's decision. Wouldn't be too hard to install I reckon, you just need to know what wires to tap into...
