    Probably too busy.
So many cars coming over the border due to no RWC requirement.

The biggest PITA I am having at the moment is getting the gas tank re certified as it is out of date. No one does it here in Gladstone so it is off to Bundy or Rocky. All the rest is fine.

    Cheers

If there is any external rust on the lpg tank they wont recert it.

As the gq tanks are external rust will occur

There is the slightest bit where the bash plate has rubbed, I was told that as long as it was not more than 10% it would pass. I am taking it up to Rockhampton tomorrow to have it tested, here's hoping. If not anyone know were to get a replacemnet up this way.

    Cheers

Slight amount of rust that has not eaten into the body should be ok.
You can always drop the tank, sandpaper it and spray it.
It's better to drop the tank yourself and have it ready.
Then you can call a mobile tester or take it to the tester.

If you have to do a welch plug, do a proper job and replace them all (that you can access externally) with brass ones while you're at it. If one is leaking they are all suspect.
Remember to change your coolant every 3 years to avoid internal sludge and corrosion which is what hits the welch plugs, but with brass ones it isn't so critical.

When you service the Auto, use Transmax Z or similar full synthetic oil. Better auto function and takes a lot more abuse to burn it than mineral oils.

Changing the brake fluid sounds silly when you first hear it, but when you see the results of not changing it at least every 5 years (pitted calipers, cylinders and pistons) it's crazy not to change it. If your running a manual remember to do the clutch system too.

Little things usually required for around 300,000k are -
grease your brake caliper slides and check the boots that protect them
check for chassis cracks around the rear spring towers and steering box mounts
check the shock absorbers are all working properly and not leaking oil
if the fan belts are off, check the bearing play in the water pump and alternator bearings
do a visual check on the body mount rubbers
adjust the barn doors - the one holding the spare will drop a bit - hinge adjustment is under the door trim.Check the hinge and mounting for wear/cracks.
replace the bonnet rubber stops (these are always worn out) unless you've already done them - under $10 a pair.
If the windows are rattly you can also replace the baily rubbers
Is there a water leak into the front carpet ? - clear the drains in the vent chamber under the windscreen.
Rear slider windows should be showing signs of rust or leakage by now. Aluminium sliders & rubbers cost $440/pair

And if you're fussy about rust like me - give it a good drown in fish oil (every 5 years)

Be interested to know how many of the items mentioned here apply to your Patrol - a reply would be nice.
    "Can't" is a dirty 4 letter word.
Best way to deal with a "Can't" is to chop off the "t" and brew it in boiled water for a few minutes.
Sip on the "t", and consider what you've got left to work with
