    Radiator Cap GQ TB42 Auto

    hi,
Just wondering if anyone knows the original (from factory) pressure of the Radiator cap on GQ TB42 Auto, using a manual radiator due to having a transmission cooler fitted.(not sure if this standard). My Radiator looks to be a 3 core, but i have a feeling the cap is the incorrect one.

I know from previous experience with an old Ford , that the in-correct radiator cap means poor pressure therefore not allowing enough water flow through the engine and reducing the radiators ability to work effectively.

My patrol starts to heat up whilst in idle at the lights on 40 degree days but when moving she cools back down.
I am looking to replace the radiator cap and put a shroud back on then maybe replace the electric fan (i think put in place due to the transmission cooler being fitted)could potentially fix my issue before i go taking head off and/or replacing radiators.

    thanks ,
    Rob

Not having a shroud will make any fan very inefficient,

Hi there Natrob normally cap pressure is between 1.3 bar - 1.6 bar but by the sound you really need to run a radiator fan shroud for your cooling system to work when stopped at lights ect also the cap assures pressure in the system to increase the boiling point of the coolant
    Cheers Kimbo

Thanks Kimbo, I have been looking around at the shrouds and found a twin thermo fan setup including a shroud for $140 delivered, compared to a standard shroud from a wreckers for $100, so I am thinking it maybe time to place the twin thermo fans on the radiator. I think that will solve my issues.
