    Anyone used a Motow? Thoughts?

    Hey guys,

Now that the Mav is just about driving again, my thoughts have turned to the Peter Stevens voucher burning a hole in my desk.

Was thinking about getting a motow for when I need to transport one trailbike around(I already have an easytrailer for multiple bikes & general trailer duties) but think it'd be handy to be able to travel light?

    http://motow.com.au/

Anyone have/had one? What'd you think?

I personally hate this style of holder.
I think they should be black top only at best. .
The amount of roll and force on that bit of tube.. wow..
I'd personally get one made that bolts onto you tow bar points.
A lot wider frame so no rocking.. and much stronger.
    Cheers

I have been thinking about one of these too for my DRZ . I respect what Kallen has said but have an expectation that considerable Engineering Consideration has gone into the design. A dirt bike is very light when you consider the tow point will support a Tandem Car Trailer. I think the ball weight is like 450kgs or something and this won't even be 30% of that loaded.

How much are Peter Stephens asking for it?
    Its a Nissan! =====> Its a Keeper!! ....... Got a TD42 in it BONUS!! ....... I'm a lucky bugger! I've got 2 of em!

The only good thing about an 80 series is..... the front end?? Wrong!!, the Engine?? Wrong!! the Full Time 4WD system?? Wrong!! Its the NissanPatrol.com.au stubby holder fitted over the transfer lever.
WARNING: Towballs used for recoveries can, and do kill people and damage property.

The ball weight would not be the issue, I would be worried about the twisting/rolling. (especially the way I have seen you drive Darren)

Tow bar and its fixing points are not designed for the twisting action of a 6' channel
supported only by a piece of 50 x 50 RHS, not ideal IMO Id look elsewhere

I had something similar many years ago on a sedan. It was a nightmare! Too much weight sticking out so far and even then I had to remove foot pegs and other bits as they came into contact with the rear of the car. I don't know how you would get around the spare wheel on the back of a Patrol.

Mine was useless and I could not even give it away. I ended up cutting it up and using the metal on other projects.

If you are still determined to buy one make sure that you ask them to demonstrate it on your Patrol BEFORE you hand over the money.

    Just my two bob's worth.

Thanks for the feedback guys, definitely gives me food for thought, might let that voucher burn away for a bit longer.
