New Years Eve Plea
Here in Victoria it’s exceptionally dry, it’s very hot & wind is forecast.
It is New year’s Eve & it is inevitable that some moron is going to set off their illegal fireworks tonight just because they’ve bought them.
If you know anyone who intends doing this, or are at a celebration where it looks like someone is going to light some up PLEASE try to stop them.
One tiny spark is enough to start a bushfire capable of destroying country & homes & killing wildlife & people.
It could happen anywhere.

Extremely thoughtful plea Cuppa. I know for a fact my idiotic cockroach neighbors will do so, no doubt about it... The whole state is on alert due to weather but that won't stop some idiots.

Very hard to police, nearly every 2nd house around my way will have fireworks of some description.
Not fair on the dogs, and Billy if very timid as it is.
Happy New Year everyone
I cant see why they dont call for a total fire ban , conditions are right to call one
maybe too much invested in the city fireworks

Which is shit I reckon... It is total fireban today, I think. But melbourne fireworks still going ahead supposedly... I mean they rave on about peoples and property safety on a day like today, yet they allow that to go ahead. Despite everything thats happening at Great ocean rd.
Stupid if you ask me. Especially if everything cost an X amount to setup ... Money talks bullshit walks again!

Thankfully the warnings map is clear today for my area. It is tinder dry ATM, but for sure, some DH will let off fireworks. Every New Year since I have been here, some jerk lets off a flare on the foreshore. It has been plain luck that the it hasn't caught hold and burned someones' property or the port.
My advice is: not to follow my advice.

I posted too soon. There's a fire near Heywood. One of my girls was just there yesterday, visiting her friends. I hope they're all safe.

Spoke to a mate who is at Airleys inlet right now and he reckons wind isn't so bad, this was as of around 2 hours ago.
Lorne is a bit west from there.
