    Strap to bull bar- What for?

    On my GU I have a Nissan Bullbar and at the back are 2 straps. These are bolted back to areas that are part of the bullbar attachments (?). On the bull bar they are bolted on to the winch mount area; about 25-30 mm above the top 2 mount points for the winch.

    I cant see how these could even work with as a support due to a tension load on the winch due to the way they are bolted on.

    What do these 2 straps actually do, if anything in besides get in the way?

    Possibly a brace to assist the crush zone on the chassis when a winch is fitted

    I mounted my Dolenoid the the drivers side one.

    Has airbags, but due to the shape it does not make sense airbag or not. Anyway the bull bar is on the rush zone and hence will automatically cause airbag inflation.

    As these are not straight but already part curved they have no compression resistance at all.

    The bar is rated air bag Nissan compliment by Mr Ni$$an.

    Winch mounts straight on bulbar so no mounting plates like the GQ.

    Yep, winch mounts to bar and then under load the straps will take part the load from the bar to the chassis and the crush zone will take the rest..
    They are curved so they don't resist compression in a crash.
    Just my guess anyways

    Maybe they are to help stop sideways movement of the bar in a crash, to make it collapse the crumple zone more square on and activate the airbags?

    For example if something clipped the corner of the bar from 90 degrees instead of head on.

    Looks like extra support for when a winch is under load when in use. Just a guess.
