Putting A/C in a non A/C GQ

Just wondering if anyone here has actually done it?
I'm guessing the a/c bits for the rb30 and other motors will be largely similar.
I've had a look through the manuals and have a rough idea of needed parts, but figured I'd post up and ask if anyone has actually done it, if you had a list of parts, how difficult it was/cost etc.

I've searched but doesn't seem to be a heap of people putting A/C into their GQ's haha.

mine is running an aftermarket a/c... sorta works but seems to small. it was installed when it was new so 25 years or so ago .... prob visit wreckers and get all the parts from a genuine one. if you can fit it yourself and get it leak tested. save alot of coin. its not a quick job.

mate put a/c into his hq used mostly generic parts from the usa. might be worth looking into.

or roll down the windows and go faster :P

A while ago I had a chat with a GQ owner from my local auto store, he has converted from an RB30 to td42, he was using a mix of AC parts from different engines and a couple of custom hoses, he said that Nissan a used a mix of parts across the GQ's. Don't know about the cost though

AFAIK, A/C systems can be different between RB30 Patrols(different compressors, etc), but the basic parts will be the same.
In theory, it should be possible to adapt an A/C system from an R31 Skyline or a VL Coooomadore, which probably would be cheaper, but may be more fiddling. Yeah, getting all the parts from an RB30 Patrol is the easiest way.

Yeah, I'll be going with rb30 gq gear, just for ease of installation (hopefully).

I've put a/c in my ute it's quite easy, wreckers sell a complete system for about $400 just make sure you get all the wiring loom and jumper links as well

I had mine done recently in Bayswater drive in drive out some reco parts some new including compressor and 12 month warranty. $1500

I'd say that was fair considering the time needed to do the job
