Where to stay in Tassie
The wife is looking at going to Tassie in early January.
Going over by boat and taking the Patrol along.
Question is what is the best way to stay and travel around. Looking at staying for a week. What have others done.

You could go around to St Helen's and have a look and while you are there you could go to Bay of Fires just 20 min up the road from St Helen's but at that time of year you wont get a camp site there. You can drive down the east coast to Swansea, Bicheno and Orferd then into Hobart and Port Aurthur. Or you can stay at the top of TAS and go from Bridport to Stanly and see all the attractions in between. If you want some serious 4WDing then go down the west coast. With just a week you wont see that much as there is loads to see down here. It just depends what you are looking for.

Cheers mate.
No 4wding, well not planning on any. More of a sightseeing trip. Have never been there before so more of a tourist route. Thanks for the suggestion, will keep it in mind.

Jay see, I notice you have another post about fine dining. If you want the best steak in Australia, when in Hobart go to The Ball and Chain Grill in Salamanca markets. We have managed to get to Tas twice and always make it our first meal stop.
2005 GU IV ST 3.0. Snorkel. Roof rack. Awning. Spots. Welded I/C. Dual batteries & VSR. UHF. Barn door hinge extension. Roof top spot lights. Rear drawers. 2" lift. NADS. EGT and boost gauges. Trans temp and water temp gauges. Provent 200 catch can. Rear ladder
And crawling on the planet's face, some insects called the human race. Lost in time. And lost in space... and meaning.

as a local i have to agree. My wife and family have been going to the ball and chain for 2 decades. they also own the Jail House in Launceston as well. same set up as the Ball and Chain

A must see is The Wall In The Wilderness at Derwent Bridge. This place should be on everybody's list.
We have been back and forward to Tas for over 40years as the outlaws live in Hobart, Last time we were down there we spent 3 months and covered around 8000ks,with about 3000 on dirt and tracks and only back tracking once of about 120ks. We still have only seen about halve of whats on offer over there.
