My sons patrol had a couple of roof rust spots on the roof.
Local repairers wanted at least $2000.....
Didn't know how to take on repair.
I attended a car restorers course at polytechnic west (Carlisle Perth).
Course costs $360 to take & was 2 full days.
The instructor was more than happy for me to bring the patrol in and repair the roof.
He also was careful to help with the tricky bits.
Great course, great instructor, well worth the time & cost
Photos attached show one repair area. Large repair was made on the other side.
Steps to repair.
Grind area locally
Make up new steel to match profile (TAFE had all the benders) paint internal surface with weld through primer
Mark out the cut area & cut it out - including dupilling out the spot welds in the gutter
Treat the internal rust.
Weld in the new steel - the course spent a bunch of time on how to do this with a MIG
Grind it off
Bog, prime, paint.
