    1969 hk ute project

Ok ... So for god knows what reason Brad felt the need to spend all his spare time in the shed for the next few months (hahaha maybe years)

He picked up a HK Ute which he plans to completely strip, cut rust out etc and rebuild - once he started cutting he then decided a cheap way to get some of the parts he wanted was to buy a flipping HK Sedan

Here's a few pictures of the old girls - he'll be stripping the sedan to use parts on the ute and then "maybe" (over my dead body LOL) will look at rebuilding the sedan .....

Gonna be a VERY LONG process but keeps him off the streets and reckon she's gonna look smick when finished

Interesting. My first ever car was 186 HK wagon. I think it was 1967. Would that be right? I'll be following this thread closely. Cheers... I might try a dig up a photo or two.

I "believe" and don't quote me because I'm no expert ... The HK was released in Jan 68' and replaced with the HT in May 69'

We did a chassis number check on the ute when Brad first bought it and can't remember all the details but she was actually built up here in the Brisbane factory and was originally white with this seriously weird blue combination interior (dash is a darker blue to the seats/trim etc)

At this point the plan is to paint her her a gunmetal glittery grey (just gotta find the shade he likes - Mazda, Honda and even Jeep have 3 very similar but different colours he likes) with a Predominately red interior (splash of white)

Also considering lining the floor of the ute tub with wooden panels but that plan may have changed with the colour change (was going to go back to white and blue)

Time will tell if she ends up more classic looking or abit trendier

He did up an old falcon sedan quite a few years ago and she ended up purple with white interior - sounds gross but I've seen it (sold it to a mate) and it flipping gorgeous

    Anyway nice little project.
Mate had eh with white interior, white roof, white engine bay and the body and engine were cool mint green, looked tops and a blue bottle in the boot.

    HD then HR
I brought a HG ute years ago for $50 5 cyclinder spewing oil every where .
replaced one guard and sold it for $150.
Also had a 68 falcon ute disc brake front end very rare, column auto ,put a fairmont interior in it.
bucket seats and dash, from a mint donor sedan and I mean mint $100
Plan was to put a 302 and paint it polar white with a red stripe, sorta GT ish.
    Never got around to it

Good to see an old Holden HK. I owned a 1969 HT Kingswood sedan with a 186 and Powerglide Auto in it. I was told it had a Premier interior from the factory. I don`t know how true that was, but it had bucket seats and the interior was in the bsb colour. There is two versions of the powerglide auto, one for the 6 cylinder and another for the V8 being stronger built. A bit of difference in the first gear ratio apparently too.

Oh, you poor, poor girl..................... I have lived this for many years. The cars breed, the excuses varied. DO NOT let him bring it in the house.......

But, seriously I hope it comes up well. I'm not a Holden person, but those old girls are kinda sweet. Have fun.

thanks lovely!!! Breeding has already commenced with the sedan showing up "but babe, was cheaper to buy whole car than it was for the parts I need that I can strip off it"

It's all good - frees time for me to things I want and have seen the Falcon he did so know at least he does know what he's doing (kinda sorta) - oh and we're FORD over HOLDEN any day of the week ourselves but the old girls have something about them ....

Imagine the stories these (or any) old car could tell you 🏼 just so long as they don't turn into a "Christine"
