Ahhhm Yes! Why not. The amount of crap every Patrol has hanging off it, it wouldn't make much difference. The one on my van is nearly flush with the wall so nice and neat and would serve its purpose.
I suppose not bling like you're used too though

If I were to do it though, I would somehow have a fuel filler door on the LHS and have the 240v inside this. Atleast it would look factory.

pretty much to make it look neat more than anything

not sure if you would need to run a fuse or such, as it is fused at the power pole, or Van, which ever your plugged into

you could run a big ar$ed inverter, but when your camping (at a park say) and you want to run a lead to the car for engel to save 12v while stationary

attach a battery charger as well as an outlet for the fridge, and charge your batteries at the same time as your parked

Still dont get it oh well not the first time, I would be bringing out the solar panels,
but not sure how "safe" they'd be at a park. If you are stopping at parks on your
lap for showers or other reasons, I suppose a using 240 when you can is feesable.
I would never think to use 240 when travelling, thats just me though
