ZD30cr hard to start
Hey everyone, my 2011 gu zd30 cr takes quite a few revolutions to start especially when its cold. It always has taken a few turns to start but its getting worse and yesterday after not being started for 3 days it turned over for a bit then tried to fire then turned over a few more times then tried to fire then eventually it started. I drove it for ten min then turned it off for 5 min, when I started it again it started ok but still took the usual 3-4 seconds to start, which seems a bit long in my opinion. Last week I replaced all four glow plugs and it made no difference. It has done 105000km, and only 5000km since I installed a new fuel filter. Im hoping its not the injectors or pump, any advise would be appreciated.

how old is your battery , are the connections good . it will be harder to start if the battery does not crank fast enough .

Battery seems ok, turns over fast enough, glow plugs are new, the primer pump took 3 or 4 pumps to get firm , could hear air bubbles in fuel tank when I was doing it. after I primed it, it started better than yesterday.

Have these got a two stage glow plug timer anyone? I can't remember. If so it might be worth swapping a relay or checking the timer circuit.

This has the fuel rail relief valve symptoms. Super common problem on the common rail patrols.
If it turns out so, do not fall for the Nissan's trap of only selling it with the full rail assembly which is well above $1000. You can get them on eBay like the link below. Some 4x4 and diesel injection places sell it also.

To test it I've attached this for you.
