I am and looking at the Thunderer MT R405's @ $239.00 each, 285/70/17
These will be on a separate set of rims and only used on the tougher trips.
I had a set of federals and they were good quality for the price.

Had a quick look at those and the reviews not seem bad.

The Feds were excellent for traction did everything the big guns did.
They were a bit soft but I only ever used them for trips.
I've always had 2 sets, AT & MT for different trips and never really used the MT as daily drivers.
I know someone that ownes a Bridgestone tyre shop and he was the one who recommended the Feds and the Thunderer brand.
He has sold heaps of them and only had good reports and runs a set for 4wd
Found a small review on the Thunderer.
Thunderer R405 is a brand new tire brought to the US Market. They have taken great features from all the top brand Mud Tires out there and combined them into the great looking, great riding yet affordable tire. Awesome styling and new tire building techniques make for an all around performer. Scallops Lugs, High Density Kerf, Full Lug Siping, Wrap Around Tread Design will get you deep in the woods and get you back out. X-TREME
