Bubbles in coolant 4.2tdi

G'day fellas,
Well as the title says I was up the high country on the wkend,
and as my ute was on a pretty good incline I heard a noise so I cracked the bonnet,

While under my bonnet I noticed the coolant in the overflow was moving around.

To investigate it more I drove up to the top of the hill on flat surface took the radiator cap off n gave it a few revs, the coolant would rise and a bubble would come through.. 😣

Now I've talked to a few mechanics one said not to worry about it cause its not over heating or anything, the other said it's a head gasket which is rare on the 4.2s?

Some help would be great!

can you repeat the reving on the flat now and get bubbles ? a tee kay test would show up combustion gases in coolant. does it lack power run hotter than before ? is it pushing coolant out of the system more than normal ?
how many bubbles just one or lots ? how big is the bubble ?
i'd use the tee kay test first then maybe a compression test.

Yeah it does it on flat ground now, Na power is fine and it's not running hot..
And coolant levels stay the same, it's one big bubble everytime you give it a rev!

i wouldn't be too worried just yet, but a tee kay test to be sure. (maybe a leak down test as well) if that shows up combustion gas in the coolant then start saving for a head gasket
check the 710 cap for milky residue (doubt you will see it but hey)

Yeah, I reckon couple of bubbles should be fine. Non stop gushing of bubbles is not good news.
Head gasket failure is common among TB42s and RB30s. Not sure about TDs. I would imagine, since it's an alloy head just like TBs, it would
be subject to the same laws of physics, given it's subject to far more compression than TBs or RBs.
You can buy a combustion gas leak test kit off fleabay for around $100 with the test liquid, or you can come up with
your own test like I did.

have a look at your oil on the dip stick if its nomal black its ok if its creamy its a problam eg head gasket,, hope its ok for you..
