The floor of my GQ RB30(both driver and passenger sides) has been getting wet.
Initially, I had no idea where the water was coming from, but thought from the door
rubber seals. On close look, I discovered it's actually from the windscreen.
Leaks are concentrated on lower windscreen corners(from outside).
Also it's possible the top of the windscreen rubber seal is loose & leaking as well.
What is the best approach to fix this?
Should I patch up with some black silicon from outside? or
Should I pull the whole rubber seal out and clean it and re-apply a lot
of black windscreen silicon?
My concern is that since the leak has been there for a while, there might be some rust
damage to the metal strip of the body where the windscreen fits.
Only way to find out is to pull the windscreen rubber seal out and clean it.
Is it an overkill?
There's a bit of damage to the corners of the floor from leaking water and soil gathered over time.
But, that easily fixable.
I'm not sure it's the same thing if the body is rust damaged around the windscreen.
Take to a windscreen place to get them to remove
it the lower section may be rusty , you could treat it when its out.
Some fitters cut the seal to make it easier to fit especially the lower corners
04 ST 3lt auto, not enough Mods to keep me happy, but getting there
Do you have windscreen cover in your insurance? Some insurance covers you for one free windscreen claim a year. Which is good if, for example, a rock cracks it and then it needs to get replaced and ofcourse getting new rubbers in the process ;-)

I did in the past. Currently it's not covered. I reckon I should have "got it done" during the time I had windscreen cover.

How about I tackle the removal part of the job with this tool?
I can leave the re-installation part to windscreen guy, if I find it's beyond my league.
Removing it myself would give me time to clean and fix the edges(any rust damage),
would it not?
it pushes out no glue in it, might need to break the silicone but thats about it, putting it in is a little tricky, need a rope of the right thickness silicone and someone to help

Ok, cool. I think I'm gonna go ahead with taking it off, but perhaps leave it to a pro when it gets to putting it back.
I'll see with some youtubing and with a bit creativity whether I can manage it myself.
It can be fun, as long as I don't end up smashing the windscreen.
Thanx mate.
P.S. I've seen the pro windscreen guys lowering it with a pair of plungers.
So, I reckon I can use a pair of bathroom plungers?!

Cool, thanx mate. I haven't started it yet. I cleaned it today.
I'm getting into it tomorrow.
Cheers
