GU6 ZD30 CRD intermittent hard to start

    G'day all,

Over the last month or so I've found the Patrol hard to start on occasion. It's mainly after it's been sitting over night. It starts ok then dies after about 3 seconds. I have to prime it to get it going. This happens like 1 or 2 times a week.

I've read a few posts about other people experiencing similar problems but all suggestions so far have not fixed the problem.

    So far I've -
    Changed the fuel filter
Tightened all the fuel hoses and clamps and some were a little loose,
Pressure tested the fuel lines and leak was found and fixed,
Checked all glow plugs and did replace one faulty one which I thought would fix the problem,

But the problem still exists. I've dropped the Patrol off at my mechanic for them to check out again but was just wondering if anyone had any other suggestions not mentioned above.

    Thanks
    Paul

This sounds like a pressure relief valve issue mate. Do you have a scan gauge or anything to check for codes ???

I've got the article on how to test the rail relief valve at home, I'll post it when I get home in about 20. That way you'll know.

Here you go mate sorry for the delay. This will possibly eliminate the valve. They are about $260 Off eBay. Nissan only sells them as a complete kit with the rail, which is about $1200.

Thanks TD, battery in tip top condition. That was one of the things I thought of but forgot to add to my list.
