    Handbrake won't stay up

    Hey guys the handbrake on my 99 gu ute won't stay up thane fake works but won't stay up the button is not jammed in etc any ideas what I need to look for to fix this problem
    GU DX Cab Chassis TD42t non intercooled, 3 inch lift, genuine steel winch bar, 33" Pro Comp All Terrains , 3"turbo back exhaust, Icom IC 400pro UHF, 12inch LED light bar, 42" light bar
    Future mods: Intercooler, more boost, dual batteries, drop links for sway bar

    If you pull the lever without pushing on the button. Does the ratchet click in the handle? I assume not if the handle is not staying up. Then i would say the issue is in there. There will be a spring or something on the ratchet thats busted i reckon. If not. I dunno...

    Yeah nah no ratchet sound at all I'll check out the springs tomorrow

    I was taught when I did my 4x4 course was to apply the hand brake by pressing to button avoiding the click click sound.
    because you are rounding off the rachett mechanism and on a steep hill you may need it for a hand brake start, a small thing
    but might be worth remembering.
    04 ST 3lt auto, not enough Mods to keep me happy, but getting there
