engine bay photos
ok here are some photos of the engine bay.. i've never had a diesel before so dont have a clue what i'm looking at..
1. i'm thinking from the first photo that my dual battery is on the drivers side - i'm yet to follow the wires.
2. what is the gold bolt thing in the second photo?
3. where is the ERG plate thing that I block?
4. Cant locate the MAF!
5. the battery on the passenger side looks like the cranker.. am i correct?
6. bloody cables everywhere!
7. is that a factory turbo coz it looks small.. what does it do by the way?
8. any other advice on what is what would be grand!

Cool, you dont have a MAF ,but you do have a 3LTR airbox, so a K&N filter would be handy x 2
Drivers side is your start battery well on my 3 ltr it is
follow cables to starter to check
Looks strange that the AUX battery is held down length wise
not across like most others, change the nuts to nyloc as they will rattle loose
@ Billy is it a converted 3LTR ??

3TD - not that i'm aware of - the id plates state a 4.2TD
how come?
it mirrors the other battery and dont think there was room sideways.. wish i could have done it all myself.. maybe oneday ill pull all the wiring out and redo it so i know how it all is.
Does anyone know what the gold bolt is?!?
its got a massive filter in that airbox - which K&N filter should I look at buying for that box?
do i need a catch can?

The "gold bolt" is a plug. There is normally a pressure relief there but they can fail and its common to plug them.
Catch can is up to you.
Battery is mounted the same as any other. Cranker is on drivers side.
That style air box is standard fitment on the factory turbo 4.2.
