The only good thing about an 80 series is..... the front end?? Wrong!!, the Engine?? Wrong!! the Full Time 4WD system?? Wrong!! Its the NissanPatrol.com.au stubby holder fitted over the transfer lever.

For anyone not aware - Nissan Patrols are considered, & I got this direct from the insurance company, 'high risk vehicles'.

When I took out insurance on the OKA I was buying (which subsequently fell through) the agreed value was more than double the agreed value of my Patrol, but the premium was more than 40% less than the Patrol. When I queried this difference I was told that Patrols are considered high risk. More damage resulting from hoon drivers & more likely to be stolen. My insurance company is Club 4x4 but I think all insurance companies base their premiums on the same sources of 'perceived risk'.
Disappointing that old farts like me get pinged because of Patrol popularity among young 'go hards'.
