Hi guys, can anyone please tell me how much torque the Nissan 2.8 1999 Y61 Manual Gearbox can withstand? Thank you.
I know some polish guys who did some good swaps with BMW 3.0d and 3.5d Engines. They are running 800Nm of torque with the original Nissan manual gearbox from the Y61.

I've looked and searched but have coume up with nothing, Maybe if you PM Nissannewby Matt may know.
Wow slotting a BMW into a Patrol, unheard of over here same with the Audi,
Mine being a 3lt I'll be trying to source a motor soon as
I have a mate that owns a BMW wreckers
Ive sent off a couple of emails for you to try and find answer
Thanks mate. I'll PM Nissannewby Matt and see what he knows.
I even read an article on Land Rover Magazine about a BMW 3.0D swap on a Defender. But he had to change the gearbox as well to cope with the torque. It was a BMW engine a Discovery Gearbox and Defender Transfer. Try to get the 3.5d The Twin Turbo is lot more fun.
@PP Ive a reply from a very good source and they rate it at 400-500nm
Absolute maximum yes. The engines PrimePat wants to use will exceed this even in stock form let alone if they are tweaked. The 4.2 box is even starting to become not as reliable at 700-800nm
I Have a friend with a 454 efi and just yesterday saw a GU with the Duramax in it insert drool here lol
6.5 chev is old technology IMO but reliable, even the Cummins 5.9 will fit., some have even put the Toyotas 6 cyclinder in.
The Nissan V8 Infiniti also fits quite well, and there was someone here recently that fit the new toyota twin turbo V8 into
a GU. I like the BMW or AUDI V6 as I have a mate who wrecks european cars
3lts is a bit small for such a heavy 4x4 , where as the Navara D22 had no problems being lighter

04 ST 3lt auto, not enough Mods to keep me happy, but getting there
Since we will lose the AC and need to cool the steering oil so we will redo the pipes and all. We will also move the radiator to the back of the car. I think the Audi V8 will fit just fine. Now if 500nm is the maximum torque for the Box. I think we will have no choice but to use another Box. Maybe use an Audi 6 speed manual and keep the Nissan's transfer case.
