    Wheel alignments

    Do you get a wheel alignment every time you change your tyres?

    After reading many posts about THAT wobble, I've done everything humanly possible to stop it, but sometimes for whatever reason, it did it.

    I've found that after I get a wheel alignment after changing the tyres, THAT wobble wouldn't return.

    I currently have split rims, and I'm guessing that without an alignment after the tyres are changed, it may throw the alignment out a bit, and the wobble could/would return. Can anybody give an opinion on this?

    Thats an interesting theory. I've never thought about it as I've always done new tyres, alignment and balance as a package. Will be interesting to see the answers are.

    The only 'adjustment' a wheel aligner can do on a Patrol is Toe In
    Camber and Castor require shimming and/or bushing and or offset bearings etc so aren't treated as adjustable on a wheel alignment as such.

    Toe In can def affect the Patrol Death Wobble but it has to be really out however I have always wondered how much more it is affected by an off centred rim or poorly seated tyre which can be a significant issue with split rims.

    In your case Ross if it seems to work I would def stick with it as it certainly can't hurt

    I don't think that is necessary.

    What are the alignments specs of a GR?

    as per what ET said Ross,

    it cannot hurt (except in the wallet) and if your going to fit wider rubber to the split rims - I would definitely

    but then, when I get new tyres, I always get the wheel alignment done.

    Got my new tyres and new rims and had a wheel alignment done. All good.

    They found out my swivel hub bearings need replacing due to leaking oil. When does it end? lol

    As others have said I usually get an alignment when new rims and or Tyres are fitted, but the wobble comes standard with most Patrols I believe.
    One fix I heard about and I don't know if it's been mentioned anywhere here on the site is to remove shims on ones side of the top of the swivel hub or the other at a time until the wobble goes away or maybe becomes acceptable.
    I know I need to check my GQ as I'm getting Tyre scolloping from the wheel wobble.
