New HPD MAF housing put in!

Ok, Put the new HPD MAF housing in a couple of days ago mucked around with the boost today and it is sitting at 20psi and no limp mode. I know early days but loving it so far. I could not go above 14psi before. Did't really feel any difference until I went for a drive today going up the hill that seems to throw it in to limp mode in the past as I was going up I didn't have the right foot to the floor like I would normally. Temps only got to 400deg.

The question is what boost is too high? What are the ramifications? Good or bad for the engine?
Really want to get a chip now.
    Cheers
    Scott

would you get much more from a chip,
how about a re map seems to be better than a chip

Edit.. the Hume hwy out of Melb is 110 kph max on the way to the Murray.
so for me anything around 12-15 psi would make me happy

I think it is breathing a hole lot better now but a bit more juice through might give it some mumbo! I wasn't sure if you could do the remapping on a DI. Thought it was CRD only.

Is it worth getting the air box lid from HPD aswell?

I cant see how the lid mod would improve things,Its only one 76mm elbow , look at it??
Im just about to change the complete air intake from the Maf housing to the turbo
I hope it will do the same as the HPD maf housing by allowing more air to flow ?

I've been thinking about this maf housing for a while, is there any reason I can't chuck the stock maf housing in the lathe and open it up a bit? What is the ID of the hpd maf housing? Is the stock housing wall thickness thick enough? I'm a fitter and have access to a lathe
03 ST-L auto, Dawes and needle valve, provent catch can, 3' exhaust. I want more than I got

I dont think you have enough material to machine, I have a spare housing here.
they say the HPD one is flowing 33% more the OE maf is 70mm
so the HPD one must be what 80- 85mm over 100mm distance.
My thinking is if I can remove the convoluted OE intake it would acheive the same thing
wall thickness is about 4mm approx no more

Im going to use the OE maf and use tig welded stainless steel pipe for the intake.
Ill see how that goes , must flow more air.
If that doesnt do anything Ill laser cut a new lid and tig weld a 76mm elbow to it.
Thats the plan just waiting for it all to arrive ATM, using AN 10 black fittings and braided hose for
    catch can hoses

@ Paule I grabbed mullet-hunters old MAF to see if I could mod it, being ABS you might be able to skim
a couple of mm off it, Ill take it to On Track in the morning and see what Andrew says
