3mm is what tjm use and I bent them up badly, how hard do you drive ?

Yea that's on the light side for "sliders"...
Be ok for wording off bits and pieces.
Add more middle bits, that will add a bit more strength.

I dont go hard at all. Its a work vehicle through the week so i can't afford to kill it. More piece of mind just in case plus nothing an angle grinder, press and welder cant fix if need be.

Bit of a mock fit to get the distance from the chassis rails. The 50x50 will sit dead centre under the lip of the sill.
The drivers side is almost complete. Just need to support it at its final resting spot and tack.
The biggest issue at the moment is dragging my G size argoshield cylinder out onto the driveway so I can tack it because I haven't made a trolley for the new welder yet.

Im hoping to get them both tacked up by tomorrow night and then braced and welded sometime over the weekend.
Painted Monday arvo and fitted Tuesday.
Yea right. Plans of mice and men.

An advantage of using the 50mm square hollow section is that you can now easily add a 50mm wide flat bar strengthening strap if you think the 3mm won't do the job..
