    Gu sliders project

I've been following Deadly GU's build thread and thought id have a shot at a set of sliders since my last outing punched the side step into the bottom of the front door.
Sent a pm to Deadly GU for a few steel sizes and off I went.
Consists of 32NB med pipe, 50x50x3 shs and 50x10 flat for the brackets.
I don't have a bender so i used 32NB 90deg elbows instead. I wanted 45deg elbows but they weren't in stock in that size so i had to make do.
I'll stab away each arvo and hopefully have them on soon.

It's too hot here to do too much today but at least got the rails welded to the square section. You can't see it from this angle but they are welded on at a slight upwards angle.
I need to put the two little braces in and then I'll start on the mounts.

Yea the 50x50 will sit directly under the sill its self and the pipe section will act to protect the panel under the doors (which is still probably classed as the sill). I didn't make them massive like some guys do so they won't be much of a side step compared to some.

In you're first pic you're showing 6 short lengths of steam pipe. I assumed these were to be notched and welded between the SHS and the external steam pipe but that doesn't seem to be the case because you've welded the ends already.

No the long pieces are to go from the 50x50 to the chassis brackets with a few support gussets later. I have shorter pieces that I have cut at 15 deg to go in between. It was painful to fit the small bits but it worked out well.

Im noting all measurements down because im going to replicate for a mate later on. Every piece of steel except for the 50x50 has been cut longer so i have room to play. More expensive in the long run but think of it as a prototype.
I recommend anyone with a little welding experience to jump in and diy your patrol.
