    1994 gq dx

    Hi All,

Thought I would create a Members Ride thread to document the story of my 1994 GQ DX Patrol.

    1994 GQ DX Patrol
    TD42 with Garrett GT2860RS
    5 Speed Manual

Bought it ~ August 2013 with 170 000km's on it. Installed wheels/tyres November 2013. Installed turbo mid 2014. A few bits and pieces between then and now.

Nearly 20 years old and factory stock.

Then some 255/85R16 BFG KM2's on Dynamic 16x7 -11mm offset steel wheels.

Then did the 70 series mirror replacement - thread HERE

    To be continued.....

Then came the split rim experiment. 255/85R16 KM2's on Nissan Patrol +15mm offset 16x5.5 split rims. This combination made the wheels fit exactly inline with the guards, which is what I wanted. While everything worked, balancing the splits was a problem. They required multiple truck weights per rim and even then were not balanced correctly. The rims + tubes + liners makes it difficult. Had them on for a few weeks and then changed them back to the 16x7 steel wheels.

Replaced the 21 year old radiator and water pump (pump was in good condition, radiator end tanks were fine but large areas of fins missing) with a Rapid Cool copper/brass and GMB pump.

Added some wind deflectors (~$75 delivered from eBay)

Apart from the GT2860RS install and a few other small things this thread is now up to date.
