I just bought myself a 94 GQ. My third Patrol, but it's been 13 years since my last one. The other two were MQs, and had nice big mirrors.
Before driving from Sydney to Melbourne to pick it up, I searched for bigger mirrors and found this forum. It made me laugh that Toyota mirrors fit so well on a Nissan.
After picking up the Patrol in Melbourne, I was only one hour closer to Sydney when I pulled over and ordered my Toyota mirrors.
That was Monday. Today is Saturday and I fitted them this morning. They are awesome. I just want to thank everyone for sharing this information.
While I don't really get into the whole Nissan vs Toyota thing, I never would have thought that Land Cruiser mirrors would fit perfectly on a Patrol.
It seems like I just accidentally figured out how to do that.
Not really sure how that happened, but there you go.
That is the picture that stopped me in my tracks when I was "just looking" on carsales. I couldn't believe how good it looked. One frantic week later and it was parked at my place.
I'll get some shots with the new mirrors on it and add to the gallery.
Mate that GQ looks absolutely mint ,not sure what you paid but has to be worth it for the body alone , pity you didn't have electric mirrors because the Silverado (clearview) mirrors are a reasonably easy mod for about $160 .
I looked for Clearview mirrors first, but they don't make them for the GQ. Then I found this forum and I like these mirrors better. Clearview mirrors are really good, but they look a bit too big on almost every car, and I think sometimes they would get in the way.
I still would have bought them if they were available. I think the advantages outweigh the disadvantages.
But I'm glad I have these. I think they suit the car really well, and are a significant improvement over the originals in terms of visibility.
Thank you to the folks on this forum for helping me to find the first mod for my new car.
You need to have electric mirrors to do the Silverado mirror mod so unless you want to replace your doors stick with the Tojo mirrors , no clearview don't make one for the GQ which is why a couple of us have bought Silverado mirrors and converted them to fit a GQ .
The bigger mirrors do have a downside in that the snorkel gets in the way of it folding flat if you hit the mirror on a tree .
