    Clutch feel

    Hi all

Rebuilt the clutch booster as it was leaking. Fairly straight forward, but needed a mate to help seperate the two halves. Now it's back together, the booster is working nice and pedal feel is light. But the clutch feels different so need to get used to it again. Feels like when I remove my foot off the pedal, the clutch wants to engage almost instantly. This sound normal? Engages about a cm from the floor. Push rod was adjusted to 130 mm as per the manual. Before the booster repair, the engagement point was about half way up.
The clutch itself is less than 5k old.

All good, or should I look at adjustments?

    Andy
IMO and should be taken with a grain of salt.

Have you bled all the air out as there is a bleed nipple on the passenger side fire wall which caught me out. Also there's an adjustment on the pedal itself if you need to I think it's a 14 mm spanner

I had previously removed that extra bleeder by installing just a single line. But I did re bleed it again but no change in feel. When the booster was out of the car, I did set the rod end adjustment to 130mm, which is what the manual States. I have a feeling the master cylinder may be the cause as it's not a factory one by the looks of it.
IMO and should be taken with a grain of salt.

I replaced the master cylinder with a new genuine unit and it still feels the same. Feels like for the 1st inch of travel, there is nothing. Is this just how a boosted clutch feels??

My clutch on my GU with the boosted clutch engages roughly an inch or so off the floor. Clutch would have around 5k on it too.

Doesn't quite sound right to me. A CM is not much.

Mudski, mine is exactly the same. Plus the clutch is about the same vintage (5k old). Since adjusting the booster rod length, it does shift a lot better, it just feels different. But I guess this is just how it is.

Mate when the clutch was new it was almost straight off the floor. And touchy! Plus I haven't actually gone out and measured it but it's definitely probably a 1/4 of the entire travel....
