Whether the canvas used now is just as good or better than my old one, I don't know. Technology changes fast and the lighter canvas might even be better. Not sure.
I have two sways both are OK but neither is brilliant. One is a Darche double swag, it is about 2 years old, very well made but poorly designed as it doesn't have a vent at the foot. As a result you get a lot of condensation in humid (and rainy conditions), I wouldn't recommend it. The other is an Oztrail, it is much better designed but not as well made, I sometimes get moisture coming in through the seems so I have to take a tarp with me in case it rains.

I used to have an old school swag (not dome) with no polls but a zipper up the side. It was a bit like a canvas sleeping bag with a mattress in it and a canvas flap to pull over your head. It was great up until I camped by a river with lots of mozzies, never again.... it also couldn't be set up and left there during the day as I didn't want to climb in to find a snake had taken residence there.

Some swags come with swag bags, some have them as options. I highly recommend getting one as they minimise the likelihood of damage to the base and mean you can put it on the roof rack without the swag getting dusty.
