    Bloodyaussies TD42 a new beginning

Thanks to the help and generosity of this place I am a TD42 owner and a very happy one at that.

The car named Bruce has had a difficult time of late not knowing if he was Arthur or Martha but finally the conversion from a TB42E to a TD42 is complete.

I am only looking forward so will concentrate on the now and into the future.
The car after receiving its new engine went on the dyno with no adjustments needed at all and the results are pictured below..

This is where I was told I had to sort a cooling issue and if I cannot sort then start looking towards a head gasket fault.
Being this engine is under warranty George instructed me to drive the car as often as possible for the next few months to show up any bugs.

After fitting a new radiator (copper/brass) after the crap alloy one was not up to the task... also ebay hoses that were swollen after only 1500km of use and also was instructed to get myself a higher rated cap at 15-16 pound.

Today I went to Healsville and on my return hit the big hill near Andy's for my first real test and with an ambient temp of about 26 degrees my coolant temps maxed out at 93 and my pyros hit 520 for only a brief moment.

Upon reaching the top all temps quickly came down... now many know this hill and is long and some sections steep and is a good test.
The overflow bottles water level has not changed so it is looking good.
Next on my list is the aircon, it is all installed except for the thermo fan and the system needs gassing.
One other small issue and I hope this is a common thing and can sort but I have a vibration at a certain higher rpm… I feel it through the pedal and am not sure of it being mounts or angle of the driveline or as simple as a throttle cable?

I truly love the power of a TD42 with a turbo and intercooler fitted and am still not done much in the way of actual 4wding since the conversion.
The last time I went real 4wding was back in May 2014 when still a petrol engine, this was at Toolangi with AB Rossco Dspies Kevin and Sean and a few others.
Just got off the phone with Clint from Readies 4x4 and he was saying something about the vibration being with the gearbox/tailshaft alignment… something something something?
I am not sure I will go through doing a conversion again (I am not sure I will say never) but for the next how many years I hope to be a happy 4wder.

There are a few ways of going about a conversion and GQJETT (Chappy) and myself both had TB42E’s and he went with using his loom and making it work and I went with complete change of loom and matching clocks.. I am kind of glad I went this way as it means it is more factory and makes some future jobs easier.. Chappy was up and running before me with less to do but still needed to sort teething issues as is expected with this sort of work.
Chappy and I are yet to get our rigs side by side to compare notes but that should not be too far off.
This year I hope to get to do some coastal driving plus maybe go and visit my mum at blue rag track and also do Billy Goats again.

But bringing us in full circle from last year when this all began is the Australia Day meet and I cannot wait…. Bring it !!!!

Good to hear that its all coming together.
I had issues with my last 4x4. After throwing a sh!t load of $$$ at it I sold it and brought a patrol, haven't looked back.
    How does it go.
    Happy days.....

Just fashion a piece of timber to fit, no biggie doesnt matter it doesnt do anything Lol

Glad its running well, I had a vibration on my manual and was
told to loosen the gearbox bolts put it in 5th and let the clutch out.
glad to say it aligned up everything and no more vibration

Can you translate the graph please

Go Brucie go! Wish I could get to Nisshead's place to see it in action, BA. Have a great trip.
My advice is: not to follow my advice.
