    I'm in again.
People talk of rebuilds being 5-6 thousand.
I'm guessing 2-3 for the kits and 2-3 for labour and machining.
It's not easy but you find the right place it should not be huge.

Imo I say rebuild all they way. Start fresh. That way you know what you have.
But may I also throw in the opinion of ditching the turbo?
I know it's a step backwards but it will
1 get you some funds to aid in the whole thing
And 2 give you that extra reliability you need right now.
Sure there a slug NA but reliable as Mrs palmer and her 5...

Just a thought mate. But yea I'm in
    Cheers

When you decide on a course of action, I'll pitch in a $100 bucks as well BA. (I'll send it via AB's address). Just take a deep breath and let all the worry evaporate.
My advice is: not to follow my advice.

I'll chip in cash and get the rest of the job done which ever direction this goes.

What everyone needs to understand is another motor is the cheapest and quickest alternative. Any reputable wrecker will offer at a minimum a 30 day warrenty and the car will be back on the road by Christmas and not from some goose off facebook or old mate down the road, a decent tested 2nd hand motor.

I can tell you now on a good day when you send components to a machinist it can take 2 - 3 weeks to get them back, also the parts that have failed we are not sure how much they are, how long it will take to get them or how deep the problems are. If jonathan decides to rebuild his can will be off the road till mid February

Mark your block you've stripped did you mark where each part came from or did you just pull it down??

Kallen mate, turbo or not this motor would've shit itself anyway coz or whats happened to the timing gears

There sounds to be at least quite a few positives with this approach. It has to be significantly easier with the labour involved. I'm also concerned that it is easy for me to give money, but I'm not gonna get lumbered with all the rebuild work and responsibility. I'm in IT and hate it when people just assume I would have no more pleasure than to spend the rest of my life fixing their computer (even though I don't do PC type IT). I know you are mates George, but there must be some days when you want to see the end of it too.

Been hoping you'd give us an update George. You're obviously an important part of the "brains trust" that BA referred to needing some input from.
    Thanks, Cameron
