air con hoses
Hi all,
Trying to install a dual battery tray, but it is hitting the air con hoses.
Can i crack the nut on the back of the air con compressor, so that i can reposition the hoses without all the gas leaking out of the system?
Any help would be great.
Cheers
Rob

in a word - NO
the minute you "crack" that nut, you will have a leak, and it will need re-gassing
go to your local Auto Electrician, and get him to drain the Aircon, then do your Mods, then go back and get him to re-gas it.........
safest and Legal way to do it
there is a rather large fine (in WA) for letting the air con gas out into the atmosphere
cheers

If your A/C is still running R12 it won't be a straight recovery and regas anyway.
Hypothetically, if you just crack the nut enough to move the fitting and then tighten it up again you should be OK. I would apply pressure with your hand in the direction you want the fitting to move while slowly undoing the nut. Once the fitting starts moving, stop undoing the nut and once the fitting reaches the desired position quickly do the nut up.
If it doesn't seal up again and the gas leaks out you really haven't lost anything. Then just go to your local auto elec.
