overhead consol or dash pod? photos please
G'day guys, because my car is not drivable untill i get another block, i was thinking of doing up the interior abit. I have looked at sevral overhead consoles and would like to mount the uhf on the side, and put switches where the original sunglasses holder is. I could not imagine paying $500 for one so would like to know how jard it is to do yourself? Was also thinking Dash pod, could you guys please post some pics of your home made one, or one you got off the net. Cheers

Enjoying the trips
The pain of building and rejecting is gone, the bin was slowly filled with pieces of timber that just did not do their set task.
To make the console itself took a couple of days of trial and error, the front piece was made first. How to attach the hinge and fix it to the cabin roof took a while.
Then the rear was made and the 2 joined on the bench. Trimming and strengthening took a while.
It probably took 3 or 4 weekends to complete including the wiring.
I honestly don't remember, its cool getting old and forgetting stuff!!!
Cheers

I had an "Outback" overhead console in my GQ for 14 years, then in my GU for 7 years. No issues with either and they come with all the interior lights and switches. Just bolt on to the mirror screws and the original dome light. I used pop nuts in the back, just to be sure. Beats a custom build any time.
GU IV 2006; 3.0 DDi ST-S; Nissan Snorkel, Bull Bar and Tow Bar; Warn 8,000# Winch with Dyneema rope; Auber EGT, Boost and dual Battery gauges; Provent 200; Dual Batteries; Three Dogs recovery points; Rear Springs +20% load; Outback drawers and Cargo Barrier; UHF; [GPS, Radio, CD, Bluetooth, SD, USB] floor extension; Alloy roof rack
