Will just chipping the Y61 3.0l make it very much faster?

Hi All, I'm over in the UK a long way away from you guy's and after seeing what the Y61 can do I am very interested in buying one but aren't they very slooooow. I've read reviews with one 48 year old guy saying that he would reach 60mph (100kph) in your language before the patrol would!!!
Without any major mechanical changes how can the acceleration be improved?

Take one for a test drive. It's a diesel it's not going to be fast and the petrol powered y 61 do have a bit of poke. A chip and exhaust make a big difference to the diesel

A ZD30 will improve with a chip but best results would need an exhaust up grade as well.and NADS

A 3 Ton, 3 litre diesel truck is never going to be "fast" unless you spend LOTS of money on it. However, a chip and exhaust upgrade do improve performance (more power and torque) and make the vehicle more driveable. If you want "fast" offroad - buy a Porsche Cayene.
