Angry 2003 Patrol 3.0 ZD - What scan tools available

    Hi,

I have a 2003 Patrol ZD3,0lt. I have installed a Boost and Pyro gauge on pillar post and these are working a treat.

Every now and then i still get an Engine Alarm light coming up. I am now at the stage of wanting to understand WHY, and not keep running to Mechanic who is not that up to date with ZD3,0lt motors.
If i can read the fault code, then I can sort it out by myself - MAYBE.

Have read through lots of pages on the forum and elsewhere, and so far I have ascertained that my GU has a 16 pin OBD II plug and more than likely does not support OBD II, so most of the wonderful wifi gadgets out there will probably NOT work - all i want is to read and reset faults.
Have had look at ECU Talk, but must admit they do look archaic.

Has anybody been down this road with similar vehicle and what have you done to overcome this.

Really appreciate your guys help on this.

    Shane

IMO ecu-talk is all thats available for to earlier ZD30s .
First what is your max boost and have you a needle valve fitted, and EGR blocked
ECU-Talk will delete your error codes
Maybe change your Ecu relay thats not right someone will correct me

    Hi TD,

Yes, i thought that ECU would be only option - was hoping there is someone else who might have done some magic....

Provent catch can fitted, Dawes and Needle valves fitted, EGR blocked.
Max boost is around 14 to 15 PSI, when travelling along motor way at around 110 km/hr, then boost is at 8 - 9 PSI, and motor revs at 2400. Pyro sits at about 380.

What is the ECU relay and what will be the benefit of changing it?

Still learning about this wonderful truck, and lots of questions.

    SHane

Lots to learn thats for sure, I think its called the ECM relay[module] you can swap it with the aircon relay for test purposes
Its located up under the dash on the left hand side . really need ET or Yendor on this one its right in their field of expertise
