Shelf Life of Oils and Brake Fluids.

Hi Guys. Any Lubricants expert out there? I have around 10 liters of 10w40 fully synthetic oil as 1 liter of DOT5 brake fluid that was on stock for 4 years. All of them are sealed and we're placed in a dry storage space. Can any one tell me if I can still use them on my rig? Thanks.

If they are sealed they should be fine. I would use it.

The only good thing about an 80 series is..... the front end?? Wrong!!, the Engine?? Wrong!! the Full Time 4WD system?? Wrong!! Its the NissanPatrol.com.au stubby holder fitted over the transfer lever.

Will there be issues if I used DOT5 instead of DOT5 on my rig?

No there won't be issues if you used DOT5 instead of DOT5, as long as your vehicle specifies the use of DOT5, then DOT5 can be used......... Otherwise you might need to use something that isn't DOT5

Haha. I meant using DOT5 instead of DOT3.

I also found a gallon of engine coolant that's 5 years old. Is this still okay?

So I can't use DOT5 on my rig because it only specifies DOT3? I was under the impression that the higher DOT rating, the better. What could go wrong if it pushed thru on using DOT3?
