What's the best way to get front flex ?
I'm resurrecting my GQ shortie project list at last
I'm rebuilding and laminating a Y61 front axle for the rebuild. While I'm at it what's the best way to go about getting max front axle flex ? ( I'm very poor by the way, so no off the shelf superior spending here ).
I'm thinking of booting out the panhard and going 4 link ? Is this viable ? I can weld and fabricate most stuff and good with a tape measure
At the moment I'm running 35" simex and have +2" susp and +2" body lift. The truck is used off road lots and only really drives on the road to get to the gig
I aim to do longer trailing arms at the back and bin panhard there too ( eventually lol)

Fit a rear Sway bar will give you a heap of front flex becasue the back is restricted the front will move. works for me. a Treat.

Explain please in idiot speak I have no "sway" bars on mine at all. I thought they restricted flex ?

Pretty simple really. The back of a Patrol flexes like a demon anyway. It flexes so well in fact that it will go to full flex without the front moving at all which is very frustrating. By fitting a rear sway bar the back has some restriction and the front is forces to move around a little an you get a heap of flex out of the front.
You will get better manners on road and far more flex off road with a rear sway bar fitted and no front sway bar.
This is my GUIV with a rear sway bar, no front sway bar and Drop boxes. Very happy with this setup.

Like the guys have said, swaybar on the back will enable you to have more even flex front and back. Drop boxes are great because the correct the castor and radius arm geometry with suspension lift. Three link and a panhard is possible too, I have that in my GQ, check out my build thread there is a bit of info there.
A triangulated 4 link without a panhard is a totally different beast, very difficult to make it work in a patrol (engine and driveshaft in the way) you would need to go to hydrosteer because of the bump steer you would get with the current draglink and steering box setup.
GQ highmount, lockers, barwork, 3-Link front, long arms, V8, cage, duct tape, cable ties and 35's
