need help, dont know what to do!

Hey guys, well a week ago i went into a boghole and my engine cut out, turns out its a bent rod, the mechanic told me about $2200 for an engine swap over and $2950 for the engine from another place... just seems to much for me atm.. its a td4.2 and its had the whole inside ripped out also, apart from the front dash system and the doors, what would you do? selling a car with no carpet and a bent td4.2 rod would go for sweet bugger all (im assuming)
