Very true mate, I was just erring on the side of caution for that "just in case" factor

More progress. Getting solid now. 1/4" plate ontop to reinforce the mounts and add a step, though a little high. Will need to clean up the welds as there is a lot of splatter from the gas less mig.

Thanks all, I'm curious to what people think about the ends of the tubes, whether I should just leave it or extend it to curve around the quarter a little.

New led lights that I'll chuck on the bar. Will add a metal frame around them so they're not vulnerable to knocks from behind.

Tacked on a couple of short angled tubes onto the end to hug the quarters. Also tacked on another mounting point in the center. Will weld it all when time permits and it will never fall off. Will clean up the rough edges with an angle grinder, sort out the light mounts then make it black. Looking forward.

Angle grinder will be my best friend when it's time to clean up. Not bad for a first ever metal project.
