Steering wheel shimming between 80 to 100 KPH

I replaced front wheel bearings before this Cape trip and tightened them up just a fraction more than usual and they are perfect with no wobble at all.

I have adjusted wheel bearings with the wheel on and just took out all the looseness

Yes i have done that, thinking i might try different tyre company and see what they can do with the balance, wasn't this bad with the Coopers on, so feel its the Toyo's

I have book it in at a different tyre service, they going to check it all over again, they said they may need to sand weight like they do on the trucks.never heard this but willing to try it!

Many 4WDs have this problem. The usual cause is tyre balance. Go to a tyre dealer that specialises in 4WD and truck tyres. Some of the balance machines are OK for passenger tyres but don't always work well on larger, wider and heavier tyres. If you can't find any in Wang - try Tower Tyres in Wodonga.

I have the same problem. I have a CG with 33' and second air. 3" lift. I have checked / done the things in TimE list. I was thinking to get a stronger steering damper. One of those return to centre. My current damper is fairly new, but it is the normal one. Do you guys think it will help or just a waste of money?

I had the same problem recently.
While it was annoying, it wasn't top of the priority list.
More importantly I needed a 2 inch suspension lift, and new tyres.
OME new leafs front and rear, bushes shockers and steering dampener, not in attempt to fix the shimmy, but it did.
I got the tyres a little later.
Not sure which component, or components solved the shimmy, but if I had to guess, I'd say the steering dampener.
Do a YouTube search on GQ wheel shimmy.
I saw a thing there a while back, where this bloke removed shims.
Not sure how advisable that would be tho...mabe no drama??

Yes when i work at i Nissan dealership we use remove the shims, but was the last resort! But i don, t want to do that to my Patrol as i think it will destroy the swivel hubs bearings, i am thinking of putting thinner shims.
