Thanks mud. I'm pretty sure mine is out. How do I re align? Do I have to pull out the shaft from the little end from the big one and then reinsert?

Just take the 4 bolts out at the joint between the Unit and the Pinon and rotate to alignment and refit the bolts. 10 minutes max and no need to dismantle anything.

The only good thing about an 80 series is..... the front end?? Wrong!!, the Engine?? Wrong!! the Full Time 4WD system?? Wrong!! Its the NissanPatrol.com.au stubby holder fitted over the transfer lever.

Surely that won't work. As the two ends of the tail shaft have a splined joint you can't rotate.. Otherwise the tail shaft wouldn't work.

yeah come one MR! get your story straight mate!!!

nah think about it guys, it totally makes sense. you should still be able to rotate the tail shaft from the other end?? with the gearbox in neutral etc?

The only way to align the universals so the spigots are identical position either end is to rotate shaft on the splines. You may have to have your tail shaft rebalanced.
