    There was a red paste like RTV they used in plumbing
    but for some reason they stopped making it, years ago now
    04 ST 3lt auto, not enough Mods to keep me happy, but getting there

    I think the yanks use a yellow tape for petroleum based needs.

    That may be the gas one ,that's a yellow colour

    You're probably right John, liquid/paste would be a preferred option over any tape in a petroleum environment.

    we used to do some servo tank installations and from memory
    it was only the red RTV style paste, used, a while ago now though

    Yeah I half agree. I work in hydraulics and we still use tape quite a bit. We also have high quality cleaners to make sure our threads are prepped for use. We use the past on threads 2-3" in diameter with no problems.

    Yeh. A lot of stuff I do with hydraulics we dont have the option of a clean oil free thread

    white is for ? ----- water plumbing.
    blue is for ?
    yellow is for? ----- gas plumbing and types!.
    red was for ?
    any other colours?

    can't ,shouldn't use specific colour tapes for ? and why?
    I heard white reacts with some gasses!. so don't use it for that purpose?.

    many a handy-person here, really useful info for the masses.
    if someone can give us the good oil we can all do things as it should be done.
