Thought I'd show these , the old man has rinho bars and did not like the look of the dagy brackets that came with his awning , so he knocked up these they slide into the bottom of the bar leaving nothing on the top of the bar , nice and neat

And for what it's worth his tigers awning looks identical to my ironman and his was only $100
If ya not using it buy a prius .....

good find NP99 well worth the read,

@ Gaddy I made similar brackets for the Rhino bars,
other wise the brackets they supplied stood to high off the roof. where mine is now its protected
from the weather coming across the roof, that and some red/white strip LEDs it works a treat

John, are you using red light to keep bugs away?

As Sting once sang " threedogs, you don't need to put on the red light"

Handy - searching for an awning at the moment. Wish they had photos up showing you the awnings with their pros/cons.

So far looking at the Tough Toys one: http://www.toughtoys.com.au/products/127/
or 4WDlife one: http://www.4wdlife.com.au/store/4wd-awning.aspx so I can attach the tent that's also available: http://www.4wdlife.com.au/store/4wd-30-second-tent.aspx

Only downside I can see with tent attached with the awning is realising you then need to run of to the pub for some more beverages.

Mind you if the red light does keep the mozzies away, I'd go for without inbuilt lights and add a LED strip that can change colour.

I have a fox wing, Bloody awesome, has zips along outer edge so you can put side curtains or mozzie nets, a bit dearer but worth it.

Not at all just easier on the eyes you can still see quite well with out the glare,
I have a dimmer for both.

we tried a Maglight against an LED torch one summer,,,,,,,,,,,,no difference
never tried the red light much, but will see I have some RGB 12v floodlights here
I'll try them on red and see what happens but not many bugs around ATM
