Yeah apart from the non magnetic aluminium conundrum, a magnetic would come off in a river crossing.
I came up with a couple of ideas:
1: get a number plate holder made up that allowed a piece of colorbond or ally etc to slide in front.
2: slide a small dome head bolt through the number plate holes from the back and glue so a cover can be quickly bolted on with some wing nuts.
3: some kind of clip straps like on back packs.

Clip-on opaque perspex would be good, just like the clear spotty/headlight protectors. Plods on bikes would love 'em though.
What is the charge? Eating a meal? A succulent Chinese meal??
