I have always wanted to go there! Looks beautiful and so different to the rest of Vic/SA.

How hot does it get .. is Dec/Jan a bad time to go?

As the site says, the Border Track is closed during the fire season. The Ngarkat Conservation area had some over grown tracks when I went, last year. IMHO, I wouldn't like to be in there during the summer months. Beautiful area, all the same, though. I want to tour The Big Desert one day too.
My advice is: not to follow my advice.

    Not for summer.
But I'm thinking of putting together a spring trip. 3 nights.
