Alarm sound that lets you know the key is still in ignition when you open the door.
Hi there. I have a Y61 4,8 patrol. It has to be the most annoying alarm and i was wondering if it will create any problems if i remove the sensor?? I have had a quick little look and think the sensor must be in the depressor button where the door jams shut on. Is this correct does anyone know??
I dont know why an alrarm needs to warn you that i have my keys in the ignition.
Thanks in advance.

Can be done by disconnecting a wire in the steering assembly, I have done it but have forgotten how I did it, I am sure that it is here somewhere.
If any members require assistance in anything regarding this forum, just let me know via a PM and I will help you in any way that I can.

Noticed that this had already been done on mine when I bought it.
Take off the bottom steering column cover. There's a plug with two wires hanging from near the bottom of the ignition barrel. Pull plug apart. Rebuild.

Thanks for the heads up. I managed to pull the door jam button off, removed the wires and now no alarm sound But now when i open the drivers door, the interior light doesnt come on. Small price to pay for peace and quiet.

The door button I believe does a number of things, such as the interior light as you've noticed, the key alarm, headlight alarm, and the car alarm! So i definitely wouldn't leave it disconnected!

Bugger, i thought i had that one done and dusted. Never realised it was also linked to the other alarms you mentioned. The headlights alarm can actually be helpful whilst drunk out bush camping.... Ill replace this and do the shroud removal method. Much appreciated folks.
