2 inch shocks and standard springs

Hello Everyone
I need some experienced advice, (I think this has been partially answered below) I have just put new tires on my Gu Patrol and it needs new shocks, I plan to put in a 2 inch lift in but cant afford it Atm, so my question is,
1, Can I run the shocks that suit a 2 inch lift while still retaining the standard height springs? it will only be used on-road until it is lifted, (3-4 weeks max)
2, Can anyone recommend a good Shock brand and type, Patrol will be used as a week end tourer - off road camper?
3, what shock or brand dont i want?
4, Is there mush benefit with the big bore style
