Would love some feedback on how the Portals feel.

Hi Tony, I don't think he frequents the forum all that often these days so as john has suggested you might be better 2 send him a pm

Thanks for the advice. I have sent a PM. Hope to get a chance for a yak with Ewan and see if there are any learnings I can get before I start my own Portal build. Plenty of time.

WOW last time I posted on here was 4.5 years ago and I still haven't finished!!!!

It should be finished this year???

It is a different colour now as the original painter completely messed it up.
Here are a couple of overall photos

Wow! I love the placement of the oven. I take it the thermo setup on the rear of the cab is for the a/c? Super impressive!

On the tiltable rollbar there are two trans coolers (although one should do), two air tanks, all breathers and an AC condenser unit with three fans. The AC fans are mounted to an angled shroud which allowed for another 15lt in the water tank below compared to a vertical mount.
The AC is also split to run another unit in the canopy for the dog which also has an ambient temperature monitor to provide readings and warnings if too hi or Lo

Nice work but gotta ask ( maybe because I work for a company that builds alluminium canopies ) whats the purpose of the whole box dropping out?

The box is the kitchen which slides out and then is lowered/raised hydraulically.
It looks a bit odd in photos as they are production stages.
Apart from the rotating arms and slides the rest is pretty much all stainless steel

On the left will be an 75lt Waeco with a fold up bench in front of it.
On the right is a slide out 3 burner stove, underneath that is storage for BBQ and pots with door
There are two drawers on the bottom and one has a travelbuddy oven embedded.

I have fitted a 28lt Waeco between the seats in the cab. (whole new story to achieve that)
I can leave the kitchen in the canopy with access to everything except the big fridge and stove top
The rear undertray drawer also has a stainless steel lid which doubles as a bench.
There is also a portable Frontrunner table which we have trimmed down to fit in the right side of the canopy

Gas for the stove and canopy will be accessed through a rear door on the LHR toolbox and is supplied via an automotive vapour draw tank.
A water tap is also in the same space which has interference free flow to the ground or can attach a hose.

Still don't see it or the point of it, once down the oven would be near on useless and the draws would not be fun 2 use, I'm not knocking your idea, if it works for you top stuff... just can't picture it in my head.
Does it disconnect from the arms so you can leave it as a base kitchen while out driving?
