He'd need road tyres and some ratchet straps around the diffs and chassis to lower it. Lol.

Well I've been a bit slack with the GQ but found some motivation over the last few weeks.

First thing was to get my head around the car again! Figuring what was what was actually a pretty big deal!!

Fresh eyes over everything and retrace things to figure out what I did 8 years ago and what I didn't like about it.

I've redone my Air manifolds and added the Air Freespool into the mix. Reconfiguring my switches for new tasks and making sure there is nothing left out and all will work.

Setting up a buzz bar near the single battery will tidy things up well with options to add.

I have stripped off my water to air heat exchanger off the bonnet and bought a new one and front mounted it.

I organised for my nephew to come down today for some heavy lifting. I needed to figure out if the winch would fit with the front mount in place so finally dragged out my sexy highmount and fitted it to the bar. Bloody heavy got really bloody heavy!!

If you have been following my build you know I intend to fit a through bonnet snorkel and big airbox. Well I was lucky to see someone selling one on Saturday. He was parting out his car so did a deal on a snork, airbox and cut bonnet!!

Off with the old bonnet which I will try and sell.

Off with the front quarter and snorkel and in she goes

We are getting there. Back seat in. Left side back seat has been replaced by a fridge mount and my 24v batteries have been moved again and are all mounted up.

    We are getting there!!

The only good thing about an 80 series is..... the front end?? Wrong!!, the Engine?? Wrong!! the Full Time 4WD system?? Wrong!! Its the NissanPatrol.com.au stubby holder fitted over the transfer lever.

And here I was thinking that the ‘HM’ winch acronym meant ‘High Mount’ - more like ‘Hauling Moderator’ ;-)

How much clearance do you have between heat exchanger and highmount? Keep in mind the body will move being on rubber mounts and may cause contact.

Yeah I have cut the back out of the weld on brace kit and have about 10mm. Should be ok. The bar is just sitting there now but when I.bolt.it up I will make sure it's forward as far as I can get.

Should be ok, my IC is about 8-10mm from the brace.

Nice one Daz getting there. What is the heat exchanger, is that a water to air thingo for the intercooler ?

Just did a few things with my winch and is all sitting pretty snug now but still has about 10mm clearance. Was better than with the old bar tho the ratchet was sitting bout 1mm off the intercooler which is a bit close for comfort but luckily didn't give any issues.
